Trying to Keep Up But Everything's Changing

After countless half-hearted attempts, my friend Pao finally handed in his resignation last Monday. His last day at work will be on April 30, 2021.
Honestly, I’m sad beyond words and dreading what things at work will be like once he leaves.
Pao has become my closest friend over the nearly three years we’ve worked together. It’s going to be tough not having him around to vent, to laugh with, or even just to know he’s there.
Working at a startup meant we often found ourselves juggling responsibilities way outside our official job descriptions.
It's one of those “good problems,” sure, but let’s be real, there were moments when it was downright overwhelming. Knowing I had a friend like Pao who always had my back when shit hit the fan made all the difference.
Now, without him, who’s gonna be there for me?
So yeah, my April has mostly been me counting down the days with dread, knowing everything’s about to change.
As hard as it is to see the silver lining right now, I know this is for the best: Pao is finally putting himself first, prioritizing his mental, emotional, and overall well-being. And if there’s one big takeaway from this, it’s that our well-being should always come first.
Birthday Plans by the Beach 🌴
On a lighter note, my dad’s birthday is coming up on April 22. I’ve decided to celebrate by taking the whole family to Hale Manna Resort in Moalboal, my absolute favorite spot here in Cebu.
We all badly need a break, so I’m hoping the weather cooperates. I just want one perfect sunny day to go snorkeling, kayaking, and soaking up the outdoors. Fingers crossed, universe!
Vaccines, Weddings & Crypto
A quick life update: our company is securing the NovaVax vaccine for all employees. I’ve signed up, but I’ll cross that bridge when we get there, since the doses are only expected by July or August.
Meanwhile, here in Cebu, there’s still zero clarity on when the local government will roll out vaccines or what kind they’ll even be. It's frustrating because it means you can’t plan ahead.
In other news, it’s almost May, and one of my closest friends from law school is getting married. I’m part of the entourage, but with new restrictions due to rising cases, I honestly don’t know how it will all play out.
For Cyndi’s sake, I really hope everything works out. It can’t be easy to plan (and spend on) a wedding, only to have travel bans or lockdowns ruin things.
Looking Ahead
So yeah, that’s life lately. Not much going on, but I am looking forward to getting deeper into crypto trading this month. Wish me luck. I’ll need it! 😉
