Leaving in 48 Hours

It's crazy how life has a way of creeping up so silently that before I know it, I'm leaving again. That's right. After two months of staying here in Manila, triggered by Typhoon Odette, I'm finally flying back home this weekend.
It's a little bittersweet because I've always loved my independence and the freedom that comes with living by myself in a place where I barely know anyone. The past two months reminded me how liberating that felt after staying home for more than a year at this point because of the pandemic.
I'm ditching all of that again by going back, but I'm trying to look at the positive side of things. Since I work completely remote now, that means I can travel anytime I want, so long as COVID restrictions ease up.
I'm really gunning for that. I have had enough of staying put and not doing anything for almost two years now. It's not like I have other things to consider, so why not take advantage of it, right?
Right now, I'm looking at three weeks in Bangkok, maybe around April or so. That will be my longest stay in another country if that pushes through, and I can't wait.
My first line of business, though, when I get back to Cebu is to self-isolate for two weeks. I have no problem with that since I'll just be staying in our apartment. I figure that will be the safest course of action because my parents are both seniors, and my brother's health is vulnerable.
Once that's done, I'll hopefully get to visit my favourite Hale Manna resort again since it's almost summer already. We often get crazy beautiful sunny weather on good days.
I'm also looking forward to seeing my dogs and getting a new MacBook, which I hope is available right away because I absolutely hate waiting.
If I had a choice, I would not ditch my current 2017 MacBook since it still works, and my mom gave it to me. But alas, Figma is fucking unforgiving, which definitely takes a toll on my current hardware.
Last year, before Christmas, my only problem was getting a Nintendo Switch, and that's about it. But then Typhoon Odette happened. I had to fly out of Cebu unplanned and look for a place to stay at the last minute, and everything just went in the opposite direction.
Between that and my jobs, there are definitely a lot of things going on in my life these days. I need to stay on top of them, especially since I want to venture into a new personal project. It still involves crypto and writing, but hopefully, it will be more of a decision-making exercise on my end, which I need to learn really bad. LOL.
That aside, I got my first HackerNoon article published this month. It's crazy because I didn't think it was even that technical, but I was super happy it got published. I'm planning to write a couple more articles in the weeks ahead, and hopefully, they'll get the green light from HackerNoon again.
Another thing, I hope and pray that the issue between Russia and Ukraine will settle down. I don't think there's ever a good enough reason to justify a war, and seeing how things are right now is very sad and devastating.
Aside from my full-time job, I also work for a global freelance company based in Cyprus, and I know many of my colleagues in Kyiv. I hope they're okay. 😔 💔
I guess that's it about my life for now. I still have to finish packing and do last-minute stuff before my flight. I also had my cut hair short, and for the first time ever, I'm getting my lash lifted this weekend. Wish me luck.
