Impromptu Birthday Trip to Singapore

Updated: 1 day ago

So here I am, back in Singapore for the third time, which basically means I’ve ticked off most of the usual touristy spots by now. That’s why this trip was all about no plans, no pressure. Just a chill, come-what-may kind of escape.

Most days, I’d sleep in, wake up ridiculously late, pick some random place that was easiest to get to, then meet up with my cousin for dinner, and usually end up at a club after.

Birthday Vibes, Singapore Style 🇸🇬

When I joked to my friends back home that I’d spend the days leading up to my birthday (it’s this Monday, by the way!) partying my heart out, I didn’t actually think it would literally come true. 😂

Okay, maybe not full-on walwal since we didn’t exactly drink ourselves into oblivion. But hopping from one bar to another almost every night? Definitely a new experience for me, especially here in Singapore.

All the clubbing aside, these are the things I've done in the Lion City so far:

Day 1: Back in the Lion City

Changi Airport ➔ Mapletree in Serangoon ➔ Steak dinner at myVillage ➔ Singapore Botanic Gardens ➔ Admiralty Place

Landed at Changi Airport, still one of my fave airports ever (their automated everything just makes you feel like you’ve time-traveled to the future).

Headed straight to Serangoon to drop by my cousin’s office and grab lunch. We ended up at myVillage, a quaint little mall where we demolished some really good steak.

Later that day, I needed a major change of scenery, so I found myself wandering through the Singapore Botanic Gardens, easily one of the most stunning green spaces in the city. Just being surrounded by all that lushness was exactly what my frazzled brain needed.

Capped off the night at Admiralty Place, just chilling and easing back into Singapore life.

Day 2: Shopping, Eats & Nightlife

Admiralty Place ➔ Mustafa Centre ➔ Marche ➔ Boat Quay ➔ Pump

Slept in again (because why not? 😂) then dropped by Mustafa Centre, which, if you’ve never been, is basically a shopping labyrinth with everything from dirt-cheap groceries to gold jewelry.

Grabbed dinner at Marche, which was a bit of a splurge, but so worth it for their market-style European eats.

Then we decided to really kick things off by heading to Boat Quay, before ending up at Pump, our first club stop of the trip. Honestly, it felt pretty damn good to dance the night away after so long.

More Adventures Coming Up

So yeah, that’s how my first two days in Singapore looked: a mix of lazy mornings, spontaneous wanderings, and discovering a new side of myself that kinda digs bar hopping.

Stay tuned. In my next blog, I’ll spill all about the rest of my week, from clubbing 63 floors up to finding Michelin-star chicken for just SG$3. Singapore, you never disappoint.
